Photo shoot contact sheet for samples going to Indigo

The following contact sheets are all the samples I am taking to the trades show Indigo. I am pleased with my development for this design brief and am particularly looking forward to working on the stand, where I can interact with potential buyers and gain future contacts. It will be an amazing experience and I look forward to seeing how much interest my designs get.

Visual Inspiration for Final Major Project

Whilst on holiday in the Mediterranean in the summer I was extremely inspired by the array of bright and exquisite colours everywhere you looked from the tropical flowers to the beautiful sunsets. Combined together I think these will make a perfect colour story for my final collection. Below is a selection of my collection of photographs I have taken which I will use to draw print ideas from as well as formulate my colour story.

Inspiration Wall

I created an inspirational wall in my area at uni to help inspire my final collection further. In this area imagery of flowers, catwalk collections I am inspired by, magazine pull outs and trend information are present. At the start of a new project I always find it helps me feel the mood of the brief if I create an inspirational wall...it also provides me with a starting point and guidance if I ever feel lost. As the weeks go o
n I will continue to update my wall, as my mood may change and ideas will be developed.

Collette Dinnigan - Catwalk Inspiration

I was drawn to this Spring/Summer 2010 collection by Collette Dinnigan because of the shapes and styles of the garments produced. The top design is an ideal example of the kind of designs I would like to start my collection off with, altering each design until the collection ends in maxi style dress designs as seen in the bottom image. I am inspired by the print placement on the bottom image, where there is a print in the bust area and then a print which is growing up the dress from the hem. The catwalk is such an influencing place to start research for a collection... I cannot wait to start designing!

Print Inspiration from the Catwalk

I absolutely LOVE Versaces Spring/Summer 2010 collection. The amount of print detail is amazing and I am especially drawn to how they have mixed up style of prints and placed them together. Detailed decorative prints supported by simple spots or geometric inspired prints. I am inspired by every part of this collection from the garment print design right through to the print on the shoes the models wore. Although the print is not floral influences I feel this could inspire me greatly with the prints I produce for my final collection. In some ways the prints remind me a little of the style of print designs I completed for the previous project. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this collection!!

Warner Textile Museum

I visited the Warner Textile Museum in Braintree today to gain inspiration for my Final Major Project. The amount of work archived was very over whelming, but as I had an idea of the sort of things I wanted to see, I was directed to the relevant places. Since going I have learnt the trip there is more successful if you know exactly what you want to see including the time period you are looking at. Never the less I still managed to gain a lot of inspiration just by looking through draws of floral designs. I will definitely go back and visit for inspiration in future

Inspiration for Final Major Project

When looking through the January edition of Vogue for inspiration I was instantly drawn to this particular advertisement for sunglasses. Instantly I knew that I wanted to do a Spring/Summer collection for my Final Major Project. I can visualise floaty kaftan shapes in sheer light weight fabrics and as the collection develops gradually growing into lengthy Maxy dresses. I want the collection to have a real summery feel to it and feel the designs would be suitable to wear over beach wear or whilst holidaying in the Mediterranean. I could look at cruise collections to find further inspiration. I am extremely inspired and eager to get started...cannot wait to see the final outcome!
